    Winchester Carbine CMP Blued Finish

I have a Winchester carbine that my brother-in-law purchased from the CMPicon about a year ago and I promised him I woud try to find some information about this carbine.

It is a Winchester service grade and has a Winchester barrel, receiver, bolt and the stock has a W in the sling well. The stock and handguard are numbered alike but not to the receiver. There are no cartouche's on the stock only the #'s 6663 inside the hand guard and in the sling well.

As stated in the title, this carbine has the nicest blue finish on it that I have ever seen.
The serial # 1182XXX is on the receiver but all the other parts including the trigger housing, slide, front sight, barrel band and the bolt all have the #1536 engraved on them.
The trigger housing is deeply stamped with the following: LGK OO #1536. The 00's have prick punches above them.

The receiver has the ordinance bomb logo stamped on it adjacent to the gas piston.

I know a picture is worth a thousand words but if you look at the time, it's dark out!

I will take pictures tomorrow so you can see what i mean about a nice blue job.

Any information you can provide will be gratefully appreciated.

It sounds like it was loaned to Austriaicon because of the trigger gaurd engraving. Althought the bluing and numbering of parts was typical of ones loaned to Bavaria. Is there anything engraved on the top of the receiver by the bolt. Some were loaned to Bavaria and then loaned to Austria.

The US did not serialize stocks or parts, so right there you know it was sent to Germanyicon/Austriaicon after the war, and is known as a 'Bavarian' carbine. These are collectible as Bavarians but obviously can never be as used by the US again.
