    Question 03 Lower Band questions

When did they change from the serif "U" on the milled lower band to the block "U"?

And is there any difference in SA and RIA production?

I believe circa 1917-1918. Open to correction, though.

    (1) 1909.

    (2) Yes. RIA never switched to a block "U".

It's a good thing Rick is open to correction.

    Hope this helps.

How about Remingtons '03 lower bands, were they all the block style?

Thanks Rick and Thanks J.B. for the correction

Never knew that about RIA bands, I figured Rick was probably right about a WW1 era change-over.

    Really appreciate it J.B. Thanks.

Mike good question, I thought some of the very early production had a serif "U" but the early Rem. stuff is hard to find. I may be wrong on the serif "U".

Remington used several different styles of "U's" on their lower bands.

The earliest bands had a small serifed "U" like the RIA "U". Later bands had a large block "U", lightly stamped.
