    7MM Spanish Mauser- Sported

At this time and location, I am unsure as to the year of the rifle. During range firing I noticed that the barrel could be turned just slightly, so I took it by a local gunsmith. He says , and I see no reason to disagree, that the chamber is stripped and what it would cost to repair is not worth it. Does anyone have an idea as to how I might save it. Thanks in advance.

Can you not get a replacement barrel?

I believe the barrel is fine. Its the receiver (sorry, I said chamber before) that may be stripped.

Un screw the barrel and tap lightly all around the back edge of the barrel and screw it back in . Make a mark on reciever and barrel so it lines up again. Should cure the problem. As long as the threads aren't really bad. If you were shooting it the threads must have held.

Thanks for your help. I am working out of town at this time so I can't try this yet. But this site shows me that I can probably get this fixed. Thanks again.
