Recruits ?? They are still in civies. Must have been the first day and the "authorities" wanted them to see what a rifle was...........

I had several courses that were in training before they had their uniforms issued. We were teaching drill class #1, with them dressed in civies and mucklucks because it was winter. that's one of my most depressing memories. But because of the size of the courses starting, they hadn't been through QM yet.
