Ridiculous Repro K98k Sniper on CGN

    CanadianGunNutz.com

How can you ask $1860 for a rifle like this and not include any sort of relevant information that might actually induce a sale.

ie: Is it even matching? Is the scope even wartime?

Even if both were yesses, the rifle is still overpriced IMHO.

Just hoping no poor newbie will get suckered into this one.

    Here's his ad....

I had to repost this as it was not done properly the first time, Excuse the bad pictures but it is the best I can do. This is what I have into it, I know yesterday I had a lower amount (in excess of $1300 is what I had said) but here is the exact numbers. Also this is not a Russianicon capture.

    1. K98icon $800.00
    2. Repro high turrent mounts $520.00
    3. Rubber eye cup $40.00
    4. Scope $350.00
    5. Gunsmithing $150.00
Total $1860.00 this is my asking price OBO

Gunsmithing by Jason Spencer in Ottawa.
I asked for pics, which he didn't send, perhaps because I've had a very bad experience on CGN with his sales practices in the past.

BTW, Jason at Gunco does excellent work ....

    Regards,
    Badger

I know the smith and the seller personally. The smith does EXCELLENT work and is a good friend of mine. I personally guarantee the mount and scope will be installed properly and in a high-quality manner.

The seller, on the other hand, is an interesting person. He tends to impulse buy a lot of items, sometimes getting great deals, other times overpaying. He spares no expense making his guns into what he wants them to be - this seems to be an example.

I have bought guns from him and have not been disappointed, but I live 5 minutes away from him and generally get to see the stuff before buying.

Others, like Badger, have had less satisfying experiences from anecdotal evidence I have heard.

My advice to the prospective buyer is to get more info such as a list of markings and more pictures. Don't fret about the gunsmithing though - as I said - Jason does NOT do ANYTHING shoddily. He's arguably the best gunsmith in Canadaicon that does NOT work at Martini & Hagn - LOL.

I don't want to flame this seller, however in the spirit of buyer beware - a few years ago I tried to buy a P-38 from this gent. It was being sold on CGN (before the trader rating system was in place). After repeated requests he finally sent a few very grainy photos of the pistol and remained silent and/or evasive regarding my questions related to numbers, markings, bore condition, etc. In spite of the low price I passed on the sale and refused to go back after that point.

Again, don't mean to flame anyone - just telling my story.

    regards

I have dealt with the seller many times in the past, and never had any surprises or regrets.
