Odd ring marks on no.32 scope

The no.32 scope that came on my no.4T has strange ring marks that has me stumped. They are 4 3/8'' center to center with the front one being between the sunshade and turret housing and the rear one is midway between the turret housing and the ocular bell. Looks like the scope was soldered to the mount. The scope has a moderate amount of surface rust and there's no sign of cradle caps ever being on it. The scope is a no.32 mk.2 w/ 1943 date and no makers mark. Besides a no.4T what else could it have been used on?

No32 scopes were cheap surplus items up until the 1970s, hence they were used in all sorts of commercial and home-made mounts. As it happens, 4 3/8" is the typical ring-to-ring span of many common Parker Hale mounts for the No4 and No1 action - e.g. the BA21 blocks used on Enforcers and other No4 actions.

Soldered-on half rings? Sounds very Germanic. Jerry's war souvenir reused?
