From the previous threads on Enforcers I'd be a bit wary of buying one unless I knew a bit more about those shadowy 'clones', 'phoenix's', what the poms call 'ringers' and the 'charnwood specials'. Just my thoughts.............................

I understand what you mean, Peter. I went through a ton of hoops to finally confirm that my Enforcer was original. With some of the incongruencies turning up regarding destroyed rifles turning up again, I'm not sure I'd want to go through that again and pay a premium for an original.

Hmmm - shouldn't 189 have the 'oval' receiver engraving?

No 189 is a correct Enfield assembled Enforcer and was issued to Scottish Police 10th December 1974.

Good question re the oval as numbers before it (134, 141 etc) have the Oval and numbers after it (208) has the oval.

Another 'question' about the enigmatic Enforcer, or, is it a 'put together' ?

    Questions, Questions.
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

Looks like it must have sold as it's not listed anymore. Anyone here pick it up?

Enforcers 180, 196, 199 according to my records also have milled out ovoid with engraving.

I've lost my old list, but I had the impression that the "ovoid" lasted until about #230.

I originally thought it was "mid 200's" but 395 has the milled oval, whilst 414 doesnt so it looks as if the change was nearer 400.

I have 332 - and have a couple of others +/- a few numbers in the low 300s - and they were all standard "flat side" rifles.

I know that there is a justification for the "double ovoid" rifles, but I personally would not touch one with a barge pole... still find it hard to accept that Enfield would make such a crude lash-up in milling out "old Envoy marks".

E.g. Here is some food for thought: the rifle immediately before your 395:
