    Who made my no.4T????

I have a former Indian no.4 mk.1/2 T S/N A0075T that's had most all of it's Britishicon markings removed. This rifle was discussed a bit in a previous thread, British Enfield Sniper????, but there was no mention of who made it. Can any of you Enfield experts out there tell me?

Without a close look at the peculiarities of the body by a real expert - and that doesn't include me - I'd say that theres a 99.9% chance that it was a bog standard BSA.

Thats kinda what i figured. Now can you tell me the year of production, even though your not a ''real'' expert? I'm gonna take a swag and say'43. Not a real expert, is that anything like being a little bit pregnant?

It would be much easier to cipher over your rifle if we either had photos or an active link to same!

jmoore, I dont have a working camera atm. Knocked it off the kitchen table and pieces went flying. There are some pics of this rifle on the second page of the thread ''Britishicon Enfield Sniper????'' started by phrogpilot. Are there any computer wizzards out there that could post them here for me?

Edit: Pics referred to added here for benefit of member....

I have also an indian No4T. On my rifle there are all british manufacturing marks deleted and on the wood. It is marked CPJO on the receiver ring no year only M47C was left. What are the markings on your rifle?

It has F.R. 1962 R.F.I. on the right side of butt socket, smle style. Crown over D6E on left rear corner of reciever and crown over E7F on the right corner. Crown over crossed flags over P on recvr ring. Theres a large S on each side of the lower bbl band and on the bottom of stock wrist. Scope s/n on top of wrist, can't make out the two middle numbers but the first and last match the scope thats on it. All matching s/n 's on forearm, butt stock, barrel, bolt and reciever. The pics above were taken before it had a good cleaning. Looks much better now. Thanks for the help with the pics Badger.

Need some detal shots of your receiver- stripped bare of wood and such to have any hope of ferreting out the origins of your rifle- the rest of the weapon doesn't really count as it's all been rebuilt at least once. As Captain Laidlericon already stated, the rifle is over 90% likely to be a BSA.

Peter and jmoore are right, it is beyond all reasonable doubt a BSA. Compared it side by side stripped down to a friends 1944 M 47 C BSA today and it is marked the same and has matching reciever details/ contours. The only Britishicon markings removed by the Indians were the M 47 ?, date and s/n on the butt socket, the rest were left intact.
