Wrap or unwrap.............. There are about a million unwrapped No4's out there but only a few still new and wrapped.
I agree 100% with you Peter, but I think we are in the minority.

There is a survey of No4 Mk2 UF rifles on another forum and the closest two on the survey are 6799 and 6864.

Norton Commando motorcycles
Amen Peter! I never owned one but in the late 1960's a friend of mine had one and I rode it many times. Great bike. I recently had a chance to buy a Commando, er really what was left of one which I deemed unrestorable. The seller wanted $1000.00 and claimed it was worth that much even if for a "parts bike". I will stay with my Enfield Rifles thank you!

Me 2 GET THE COMMANDO, especially if it's the big torqie 750. But don't get the 850 unless you disconnect the Indian made Lucas electric start. You don't need to ride it much............ the pleasure comes from just blipping the throttles. No bumble bee in a jam jar here, just a big bold and beefy groooooooowl. You've heard the old Johnny Tillotson song 'poetry in motion' He must have thought of that title after riding his Commando. I've gone all dreamy eyed now........... I feel a ride coming on................ After a morning with a Bren it's the best thing you can do with your clothes on

Heh Heh, LUCAS=LORD OF DARKNESS. Honestly Peter it was a mess after 40+ years of uncaring arsses sitting upon it. Did not hang around after I kicked it over and it felt like stepping on a pile of dog do do. That engine was whipped. Mud guards were gone, and most of the wiring harness was draped over the seat (what was left of it) Never found out if it was a 750. Finding parts for a Norton is like finding parts for a #1MKV or a 4T. I dont mind tackling a project, but at my age I'd like to be able to ride the damn thin before I croak !! It could probably be restored by a pro bike man but cant imagine the bill he would hand me. My house is paid off and it has to stay that way LOL

Glad to hear it. My Enfield addiction began with a wrapped 1955 Faz. I suppose unwrapping it and shooting it led to my further interest, but i still wish it was still wrapped up.

PL
Here is the link to the site and to the survey (Post #64). I do not know the owner of this rifle, but I did send him a PM letting him know you had 6800 and 6801.

Personally would give a body part for a wrapped No 4, just rude to mention the "part".
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

I've got one coming for sale. Sn. PF332755. I'll pass on the body part but the Canadian dollar is at par so now's the time!
