    Lake City Ammo?

Back in 2009 I was lucky when a friend asked if I wanted some surplus M2 Ball LC Ammo....I said YES!! He ordered a bunch through CMPicon and gave me two boxes. I am now wondering what I really have?

The first ammo box came with all loose rounds...the head stamp is marked: l c 6 9
I noticed some rounds with loose bullets and some even at an angle. Are they ok to shoot after I check the lengths?

The next ammo box came in bandoleers. The head stamp is marked: h x p 80 These all looked great.

    Any help would be appreciated....

    Thanks...

    If in doubt, pitch them.

You could at least salvage the components. If there are no split necks on the rounds with loose or angled bullets you can pull the projectile and neck size the case and use them with no problems. Just remember to remove the decapping pin on the sizing die first.

IIRC, some of the LC69 CMPicon sold was ammo that had been delinked by an outside source. The delinking process caused what you are finding and what I encountered in the batch I bought. Check the cases, they will probably be scarred on the sides when they removed it from the link.

Vintage Hunter has good advice, salvage the componets if you don't want to use them. What I did was inspect my rounds and those I found loose or bent I pulled the bullet, dumped the powder, neck sized the case, put the powder back in, seated the bullet and crimped it. Good as new.

The second box you speak of marked HXP 80 is not Lake City but Greek manufactured. Good if not better than fixing the delinked LC ammo.
