This Is What I Hate About Most Forums (Except MOPARTS)

Most forums have a handful of egotistical, self-centered, and holier than thou curmudgeons that really only like communicating with each other. All the other unknown’s or newbies are constantly subjected to being "taught a lesson" by these antiquated individuals. Why don't you fossils, for one minute, stop judging people and forcing what you know is right down our throats (it’s not religion). You don't know any of us from atom and couldn’t hold a candle to what I have personally accomplished in life. And if M1's is your whole life, than you are a pathetic individual. It’s a hobby boys and girls! Most are here to learn. You were also nimrods at one point in time. Give this bullying BS a rest. You know absolutely nothing about us other than a common interest in M1's.

I am very new at this forum. My experience mirrors yours exactly. I have already left one forum because of this very issue. I couldn't agree with you more. My previous experience has made me give up that part of the hobby I loved the most. I have even sold off my collection that I had just because of the whole experinence left me with a horrible taste in my mouth.

Personally I believe that most people are genuinely nice. However some people get on the computer and all of a sudden have a napolean complex about somethings, especially, when they have things or events in their lives that they have no control over, and now they feel superior, or they simply get a great satisfaction from, belittling people, or trying make them feel smaller.

Some people do offer a good hands up with some information. However, how it is presented can be the problem. People often can't express themselves correctly.

But often times I can read between the lines on what people are saying or writing.

Since you chose the open forum for this.

Really Rocky, let's take this for what it is worth. You showed up on this site bright eyed and full of questions. Those questions demanded answers. Okay. A lot of folks answered those questions with speed and detail. Next, you open up a new thread and ask the same question worded a little differently. Again it was answered with speed and detail. The suggestion was made to purchase a list of books that would help guide you through the bulk of the questions you have. You posted that you have books but then you ask a question that is (clearly) answered in the book that you have.

Nobody is telling you not to ask questions. Yes, we have all been there. I lurked on the site (actually it was CSP before "long story") , as I do most sites, for some time before I started posting. What do you think that accomplished? I was able to read many of the threads past and present, learn personalities, learn the carbine, Garand or whatever without the worry of embarrassment or ridicule from some of the more colorful members. Okay, there a few times that I posted a question that had been discussed in detail two or three threads down but that only had to happen once or twice for me to get it.

It is frustrating to read a post asking a question that was just talked about a few posts down the page. Here is my suggestion to you and or anyone else. Learn how to use the search feature of this site and do some digging prior to posting the questions because you will most likely find the answer and there is nothing like finding the answer on your own. Very satisfying! Also, find someone you can toss PMs back and forth. PM me and I will help in any way I can.

Whatever you do don't take this as some kind of slam. It is my job to help those that need it. Enjoy the site, learn, contribute and make friends!

Bill, you are right, and Rocky, you should listen to his constructive comments. I am a regular on half a dozen sites and I visit a few others. I spend lots of time reviewing and searching the sites and learning things before I start asking questions. You apparently don't realize how frustrating and angering it is to read "Does anybody have a Hi-Point?" or "What ammo kills zombies faster?" or "Can I use .308 in my 7.62?" or "Has anyone ever ordered from CMP" or "What's this worth?", etc., dozens of times on each forum. Learn to Google and Search for info first when you have a question. Thereafter, you will have more knowledge, fewer questions, better questions, and maybe even a few answers to contribute.
