    No 4 laminated fore end

I've always loved those canadian laminated fore ends, so I thought I'd found one here, but alas, but, it is laminated, unique and always interesting ...

It could be a canadian forestock.I seen one like that ,with thick vertcal laminations ,at a auction about 6 years ago.It was on a target rifle from an estate of a long time DCRA member.
They experimented with all kinds of laminated wood.
    better to ask wheaty.
I have been searching for 20 years for examples. With very little luck.
I will post a pic of the one I have ,later

There were two types of Cdn laminated stocks that I am aware of. There was the vertical lamination type which was thinner layers of wood and gave the plywood type look. There was also the thicker horizontal laminate. I was lucky and scored an example of each with the purchase of a barrack box full of estate stuff from an Ottawa DCRA shooter. Unfortunately someone had cut the forends in half so they would fit into the barrack box.

The wood shown on the rifle in the first post does not look that much like either example. It is also for a mk2 rifle. Not sure CAL would have made wood sets for those, since we did not use that particular model back then. There are no4mk2s in Cdn service now, but that was the result of purchases in the last decade or so for the Cdn rangers.

Pity the photos aren't a bit better. The forend just looks like it is beech with a prominent ring on either side.

Looks like three strips of maple in the middle with something else on the outside. Another of those Parker Hale retailed UF55 rifles/actions too.

Not much those old target shooters wouldn't try for a competitive advantage.
