    Broadhurst Clarkson Scout Regt Telescope

My wife has just told me that she has bought me a telescope for my birthday!! What a wonderful woman!!

Apparently it is in overall great condition (the pics she has certainly look good) but it is missing the closing tab on the hard case cap cover.

I am sure it would be possible to find someone to repair this (Moore Leather?).

Can anyone recommend any alternative repairers?

Also, does anyone have any close-up photos they could post clearly showing the closing tab? Measurements would be a great help too.

    Any help/advice greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Andy

your a lucky man, my wife would have bought something like that for me but it would have come with a jar of vaseline...
Apart from that i cant help you with the leather measurements but for repairs a boot maker would probably be your best bet.
    Regards
    Fergs.

See Jon (Moore Leather) in the UKicon for leather repairs. He is awesome with the refurbish stuff. You will never notice the repair when he does it.
Moore leather I believe, is still his domaine.

    badger/wheaty, thanks for the recommendation.

I know Jon and have had items from him in the past (most recenty for my No4T repro). He would be my "go to guy" for any leather accoutrements. He does make great kit - no doubt there.

But I've been having real problems contacting Jon since mid of last year. his mobile never answers and he rarely responds to emails. I've even tried to write to his new address on a couple of occasions

I've taken to sending him messages as queries on some of his Ebay auctions.....I have emailed and messaged him on this but so far no reply.

She must have an eye for quality, or at least condition.
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”

    Edward Bernays, 1928

Much changes, much remains the same.

Well, I gave her a list of possible things I wanted...and this was on the list (with link to seller).....much like the Aston Vantage V8 and dinner with Uma Thurmann, I really didn't expect her to go for it!

The scope is great - clear as a bell, fully functional. Lenses are clear and unscratched. Draws are pretty smooth and retain much of the blacking....no sign of ever having been subjected to the curse of the Brasso!

Have already sent the case of to Jon for repair.

Will post further pics when it is back.
