Question about LC 52 stamped 30 carbine ammo
I had some LC 52 head stamped carbine ammo that was chinese berdan corrosive primed, it all had steel core bullets.
My question is "did US manufactured legitimate LC 52 Korean War era 30 carbine ammo use steel core bullets? The reason I ask is that I have two bandoleers full of LC 52 marked ammo with stripper clips and if memory serves me correctly - at one time I pulled a bullet on a round from each bandoleer and if I remember correctly it was boxer primed. However, the other day I did a magnet test on the ammo and found that the bullets are all steel core?

I just checked one of my boxes of LC 53 and the magnet does stick. All the LC 52 I had got shot up a couple of years ago, so no way of checking now. If my LC 53 is steel, then I think it's safe to say that your LC 52 is correct.

It's not the core of the bullet that is steel. It's the jacket of the bullet that is steel. The core will still be lead.

Also just to clarify, the steel jacket has guilding metal bonded to the outside of it. - Bob
