Could an Underwood 8-44 barrel be original to a Saginaw S'G' serial number 3544152?

No. Both Underwood and Saginaw contracts were cancelled in April 44,however, Underwood had an Ordnance contract for replacement barrels that I believe ended in Nov.1944.

Didn't Underwood also do post war rebuilds.....Frank

Yes Underwood and Standard Products did arsenal updates on M1 icon

Carbines. The Underwood done ones were marked .U. and were parked a lighter gray than the ones done by STD. PRD. They were always almost black.
