has anyone painted their front sight blade to use a center hold on the black

Specifically has you used it successfully and what substance did you use on the blade. A guy at the range yesterday was recommending a light mango nail varnish color as it really made the front sight blade stand out against the black.
Any comments, adverse or positive on this (not the color, the concept). My eyes are not great and I find the dotting the i is getting harder.

I use blaze orange on the front sight. But the other colour matches my handbag and shoes!

We used to just "lamp black" ours with a trusty ZIPPO lighter ....

Worked great until it rained ..

I've done works well. Easily reversed. But 6 o'clock hole works better beyond 100m. Also try a bigger aiming mark of possible.

I'd like to use a bigger aiming mark but this is the standard Military 100 yard size that the club uses and I need to be able to shoot if I'm going to enter any competition before I'm blind. And yes the same thoughts crossed my mind re getting out of SF when the man in Khaki with an M1icon Garand is telling me to use light mango nail varnish

I used to use a red airfix paint on some of my foresights, as it was cheap and that was what most of the senior members at the range used on there foresight blade seemed to work for me, and blacken the rear with a burning match helps to.

Try it, if it helps, try it some more! I think it works better when the colored front sight blade is considerably narrower than the grey fuzzy thing at which I'm aiming. Otherwise, "flat tires" and black sights are best. Mind you, I'm struggling to hit well with any iron sights lately, esp. standing! Too much work, not enough shooting...

ohwell you may have to just revert to using the old sniper variant with scope, that would be terrible.

Ach, I didn't know this was the L-E forum! Enfields do much better than Garands, et al. with a center of mass hold. Yet another reason I like them. (Sorry, using "new posts" and "Mobile"- no forum identifiers! Sometimes I just have to guess what's going on...)
