National match op rods

My first M1 has a NM op rod (7790722-RA) and I no longer intend to compete with this 1943SA with 1944SA barreled rifle as the muzzle exceeds 3 and I have several CMPs that are 1 or less. Should I swap the NM op rod off my retired #1 as one of my CMP comp rifles came with a (7790722) and what is the difference as there must be or they wouldn't have gone to the trouble to make diff numbered parts?

Ord was running out of rods for rebuild and decided to make some more. The SA NM program was having the same problem, so requested that a bunch be set aside for them. They were marked NM just to put their dibs on them.

My question is, Is the 7790722 any different and worth putting on a comp rifle and if I retire my old comp rifle (that may become a restoration project) should I transfer the NM op rod to a comp rifle? Simply put is a 7790722 any different from a 6535382 SA. Or a 7790722 diff from a NM 7790722 RA ?

Put the best op rod on your comp gun. No difference between the op rods.

I asked this question to Ol' Hook Boutin who is an ex Army high power team armorer.
He said that the NM marked ones came off the same line as the others but were sorted to be tighter in the specification on the piston end and tab.
Measure and use the best gauging one in your competition rifle.

Can you give me an idea as to what I'm measuring and with what and the specs. The op rods (the 2 7790722 numbered rods) I have look brand new to me. So any help sorting them out or a document I can reference would be appreciated.
