    Anti Tilt Followers

I have a couple of followers on some Colt 20 rd. mags that need replacing (the old green ones). I did a search for MagPul anti tilt and I only see ones for 30 rd. mags. Can I use these in the 20 rounders or do they make different followers? TIA.

I don't think you will get the anti tilt to fit the 20s. The lock spring will be in the way. As far as I know there's none available for 20s.

So I guess I should just use the same green followers? I can still find those. Thanks for the info.

I've never need to change the followers and never had them tilt. I've done lots of time in the infantry and never saw problems there either. We had mag problems but it wasn't that. I don't know how this whole anti tilt thing came about. The mag as issued will probably do unless there's something wrong with it?

The one proviso there is that if they are the newer style 20 round magazines with a slight curve, then the followers will fit them.

Several years ago I put new springs and the green no tilt followers into 8 magazines that I only used during HP Rifle competition. There was a lot of discussion on the forums at that time about the use of these which drove my decision. I never had problem 1 with them since that time but again, only used in competition. The Mags I did this do were Colt 20 round mags.

DPMS 20 Round on left, standard USGI 20 on right:

(Although this particular magazine is DPMS, others do make the same type.)

All my standard Colt 20 round magazines have alloy followers, but if your original green followers are like these, then the Magpul will fit:

Bottom left is standard green follower, above it is Magpul Enhanced Follower. Follower on the right is the H&K SA80 A2 magazine follower - that I guess Magpul used as a pattern!

FWIW, the green follower is already an 'anti-tilt' upgrade to the original black followers:

The anti-tilt followers were developed to increase reliability in the more violently cycling carbines. Especially when using the 30 round magazines. Rifle length weapons weren't too much of an issue. So, if your 30rd magas work with the platform you have- no worries! If you're apt to put any mag in multiple platform configurations, particularly SB and FA rifles, then the followers aren't a bad idea.

I've never had any trouble with the old 20rd mags with the metal followers-until the feed lips wear out from the bottom side!

The "green" followers are a complete waste of effort when the MAGPUL followers are available!
