Looks great TBone. I ain't got a chance with what I have at my disposal. I think I am going to have to farm out some work, such as the foresight. I would have to use a file and a lot of swearing to get it done here!

Yes, no dramas, easy to index, but I'll need to run a bit through to allow the foresight protector screw through. Hence the clamp.

    Together

Sanded the wood, submerged in hot boiled linseed oilicon for 3 hrs, left for 2 days to drip dry, machined a new wood crush collar (because I had none), fitted foresight protector, fitted central sight plate, renumbered the forend and bolt(with a "TB" prefix) and got it back together ready to give it a severe caning on the weekend.
Mag won't feed properly, so while I'm loathe to do it, I might have to make mill the relief in the bottom of the receiver, fingers crossed it doesn't come to that. Ejection is also not perfect, so I might need to put in the second (forward ) ejector screw.
Anyway, testing for accuracy this weekend and I'll go from there.
As far as looks go, it's precisely how I envisaged it at the outset.

it looks sheet hot TBone. I had to fiddle with the mag to make it feed properly. I find the enfield is a finicky piece in general ( 303 or 7.62 ) but once they are sorted they are so much fun !
Waiting patiently for the range report !

Thanks to some sound advice from Peter Laidlericon in the Enfield forum I managed to get the magazine to feed, and eject without the requirement of milling the receiver, or drilling the second ejector screw ( at least with dummy rounds). So shooting on the weekend just started to look a bit more fun.
Will post range report over the weekend.

Today I shot the rifle at 300m, I shot service on a figure 12 and got 19/20 hits with 4 centres (4"bull) during snap with 4 second exposures. I then went to the full bore range and also at 300m shot a 46.1/50. I was very happy with this for the first day out. The rifle functioned very well, but does need a couple of tweaks. The top guard kind of slipped over on the forend which I noticed at the end of shooting, so I need to make that locate a bit more posotively, and the mag misfed once.
This week I'll do the cheekpiece, and sort out the little issues, and that should be the game.

at 300m I think I will need to call in an airstrike to hit the target For day one that is a great effort. As you get used to it and tweak things I suspect it will be one hell of a tack driver.
I'll be paying extra attention about the cheekpiece .. I have one to do soon ( my 7.62 coincidentally ) and the no4 303 when I get around to doing the repro sniper conversion.
