That trigger guard has been smacked very hard with something or against something.
How about a photo of the right side of the rec?
Mauser Oberndorff developed the winter trigger guard in 44, but the Czechicon factories made most of them. Haven't seen a legit wartime 98k with this TG, but I have seen some winter TGs with WaA on them.
The Czechs used them in the post war years on rifles they built for a variety of countries - including Isreal.

IIRC, the "Winter Triggerguard" bow is much larger than this one. I thought it might be a material savings effort, but, really, since it doesn't interfere with the trigger function, it's going to be left alone- bent of mfg'd. Gonna round up a few bits and do a range test. Not expecting much.

I'll see if i can get you some RH receiver photos- anything in particular?

As I thought - the rec and most of the parts were made at Radom and then assembled at Steyr.

    ???

    Why Radom, particularly?

It seems code 77 could be referenced to several locations, including Steyr.

    Thumbs up

WaA 77 was used by Erma - S/27 u, 27 in 1937 u. 38 and then shows up as a second WaA at Steyr in 1940. In actual fact this WaA was only used by Radom who was under operational control of Steyr.
Radom had the capability to make the entire K98kicon rifle, but for security reasons they were not allowed to do so. They did not make bbls and stocks, but made all other K98k parts. Some rifles were assembled at Radom using contrakt bbls u. stocks, but not many. Nearly all of the Radom WaA 77 parts were shipped tp Steyr for assembly. You will find Radom parts sprinkled thru Steyr production and also some rifles made with nearly all Radom parts like yours.
