Arrow 1945 Long Branch (CGN Private Ad)

    Ad posted on CGN ....

I don't often see a rifle that I can comb my hair in ....

If you can't view the advertisement, it's probably due to the fact that you have to subscribe to the EE (Equipment Exchange) forums on CGN in order to view them, or the ad has been deleted.

    Seller says:

This is the nicest Long Branch I have had. It is $750.

I have never pushed the grease out of a new LB and this one is very close to new. It is a 9+ out of 10.

This rifle has been handled ( fondled more like), and probably had a couple of rounds out of it, but that's it!

It has an Awesome 5 groove barrel!
I just had to take the forend off to see how the markings and barrel date were done. It is clearly marked '45 on the barrel with a number of really nice LB proofs. I tried to take some pics but the blueing is so deep they did not create enough contrast. I have had a lot of really nice Long Branches in the past, and some of you may have had brand new ones, it's not Perfect but this is a really sweet LB!

This is not a recent import and does not have any extra import or foreign marks. It's just one heck of a nice Canadianicon rifle with a like new 1941 Woods (Toronto) Canvas Sling.

Actual shipping will be charged. The price is $750. EMT is preferred.
Please contact me for questions, pics, etc. Thanks Paul
    Regards,
    Badger

Seems expensive for a gun that's varnished or tru-oiled.

For $750, it should be an exceptional rifle. With shipping that's scaring $800. The sight isn't right, although that isn't really significant, except that it means that someone has worked on the rifle. Now if it is a LB sight, that would be nice, even if it is a replacement.
The description is a bit florid. A superior piece can stand on its own. "Just the facts, Ma'am".

It's not proper for that rifle, but it most likely is a real LB sight though I can't see the markings. The rear sight looks to be the earlier small-aperture Mk1 sight - almost all LB Mk1 sights are of that type. It's super-rare to see a brit Mk1 sight that doesn't have the larger diameter battler aperture, so odds are it's LB. But again, it's been put on that rifle to make it look prettier - no way it left the factory in 1945 with a sight that hadn't been in production for almost 4 years.

It has definitely had the wood coated in SOMETHING other than linseed oilicon, and it isn't cosmolene. Just my $.02 worth!
