The M85 came with a sling and some flogged out ball bearing QD swivels, but it's a bit different than the C3 sling shown above. Had one swivel "QD" on it's own during a hike back from a hunt which made the detachable muzzle protector do it's job! Which event did nothing but reinforce my general opinion of slings...

Not standard on the PH snipers but without doubt, the very BEST slings were the cotton webbing, slightly narrower made for the last L42's and the L96's. Well liked by all. Also used on the later .338 biggies if you could get the hook fittings. Do you still have a small supply Brian?
There was always a bit of dispute about who actually authorised the hook-type sling fittings on the AI 338's! But that's another story...................

Three very rare C3 items in your picture. 1) wood transit chest...2nd one I've seen 2) drag bag 3) Kahles scope case. If the chap had the spotting scope/cover and the rifle he's sitting on a King's ransom. Highly collectable, very rare as according to records however components were not. Ron(Canada

The drag bags were issue. NSN 1005-21-873-0031 manufactured by PROVSEALED (Mfr No PATT 53-6-75). I've seen less than a hand full of these here in Canada. Holds scope. cleaning rod and cleaning kit. Transit chest manufactured by same company NSN 1005-21-872-8141 Measures 54" long x 12" wide x 10" high with polyethylene insert formed to rifle configuration. Reference document C-71-234-000/MY-000.Canadian issue however was used abroad for NATO service so could show up anywhere. Very rare. Ron (Canada)

As a matter of interest, the UK Police WANTED MS equipment but were told their suppliers had to come from the EU!
