I'm not familiar with FTF. Is that like a pawn or gun shop locally there?

Yes, unfortunately there comes a time when it's probably better if we sell our own guns if they're not being passed down.
We are sure to get a better the fair market price and if left to loved ones that doesn't usually happen. It would sure be tough.

    A very personal explanation

Dear MJ1, I was (as we often do) treating this light-heartedly. I know it is often very difficult to part with such things. How could I put myself in your shoes? - I have no knowledge of your personal situation, not even your name. Please do not take offence at my comments. No offence was intended, but if my comments have upset you, I hereby publicly and unreservedly apologise for this unintended result.

Maybe I take things lightly, but a couple of years ago I was pulled back from the brink by an emergency operation, where the surgeon said afterwards (in Germanicon, of course) "Mr. Chadwick, in your case it was one minute to twelve". Since then I have been acutely aware that every day I wake up is an extension of time that had already run out, and when the curtain falls I shall have no time for a yard sale.

Nevertheless, I do not intend to sell everything and live in permanent trepidation of the inevitable. But I have taken the precaution of making a file folder for each firearm that I possess, with acquisition/registration details, loading info, sample groups, and prices realised for comparable examples. In this manner it will be possible for my family to dispose of my guns at a fair price to serious shooters.

Until then, I intend to enjoy my shooting as far as circumstances permit. Whether that is going to be as long as five years, I do not know.

    Patrick
