Colt Commando (WWII version) ---Usual Multi-Photo Spread----

First rounds out of a pretty plain .38 Special Commando. US "flaming bomb" on the frame side and "10" on the bottom of the butt.

Random old box of 158gr LRN.

Hadn't really intended to shoot it this time, but it was in the kit "just in case", which DID occur! Too soggy and drippy for the nice rifles, so here goes "nuttin'".:




Some holster wear, but otherwise not too bad.

It's been fired by someone before, so why not a little more?


25 and 50 yard bullseye pistol range. No 50yd work today.


First six rounds! Single action, standing, but I cheat- two hands-LH dominant but right eye is working better.


Next six, not quite as good , but acceptable. Apparently shoots a little right, yes???...


OR... maybe not!

Two cylinders worth double action only- Did not paste the previous single action group this time.
(no manual hammer cocking- "trigger cocking" only (Apparently the British reverse the terms.))

First run not that great, but all but one well into the black on the second! (Stray was mixed into the "single action" group.)

All in all, MUCH better than expected! Pulls were VERY good and the round front sight wasn't TOO glare-y. Might have to revise some opinions.

GREAT write-up and photos!

I'd love to have a Colt like yours. The only WWII handguns I have are a P-38 and 1911A1. A WWII revolver would be neat to have as another variation.

It's no PPC revolver, but it's better shooting than your average Victory Model M&P Smith of the same time period. (And I'm a S&W fan!)

100m milsurp pistol and revolver shoot off! Some hold-over likely required.

Had an inquery ( ETA:via PM- I'd prefered it to be in the thread, but the main text was concerning another subject.) as to the type of repair center bull that covers the shot out area of the US NRA 25yd timed and rapid fire pistol target. In actual fact, i don't really know! Upon inspection of these photos, I think it's a reduced size type bull that simulates the 600yd slow fire HRA highpower target for shooting at 100yds.

I wasn't shooting for score- it was just a random aiming black that happens to be roughly the same size as the 25yd center. For some reason there's rarely any pristine targets in the kit!

Typical "used" target from the rear. So, just how cheap is this guy, you may ask?

Sorry about the "slightly used" targets that keep showing up in these threads. If there's no complaints, they are likely to keep showing up.

That makes fun! Done it with my .45ACP and you can see the bullets fly at the last meters in the sun with a binocular.
