A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. I've got a Saginaw S'G' carbine s/n 1829338 with this same swivel, but the band is different. The band has 3 spot welds and it's marked U. There's no finish and it shows some rusting. Is it uncommon to see a U marked band on an S'G'? Thanks - Bob

Good pics thanks. I'd rather look at Carbine stuff bearing a little rust than that which looks like it was made yesterday !. If we are talking about bands, and swivels this week, I wonder if you folk could keep an eye on the tip shape, and colour, of the barrel band retaining spring that accompany them. There's a few of us collecting info on this. We might learn something if enough data is collected. Thanks. Mike.

Thanks Mike. The band spring in my picture is probably the original. Is the one I pictured the one that's referred to as a "chisel" tip? I'd like to know more about these too. - Bob
