    Dominion Marksman Shield

During the war, my uncle was in the RCAF. In 1944 he was presented with the Dominion Shield (plaque) for Marksmanship. My question is what calibre they would have shot ..... 303 or 22 ? How many of these were presented in any given year ?

Most likely .22 Is the plaque Bronze, Silver or Gold ???? There is also a lapel pin with DM on it, again in Bronze Silver and Gold. I must find my own DM pins some day.....

The plaque is silver. My sister is sending out to me as soon as the postal situation improves. If memory serves correctly, he scored 5900+ out of 6000. Wished he could have been around longer to tell me about it.

You shot 10 rounds per target and the submitted the targets with a score of X bot Bronze, X+5 for Silver and X+10 for Gold...The mind just grows feeble on the actual numbers but I think it was 85, 90 and 95... Ten X's were just recorded in case of a tie in competition. Boy does this bring back memories...... Each round was scored as 10 points if a bull and of course less for those in other rings...Magpies...don't ask...maggies britches...some else please !!! :-)##
