I buy you books and buy you books....

How do I show pics from Photobucket, Flickr, ImageShack etc. on milsurps.com?

Just kidding, but did you try these visual directions? At the bottom there's also a .pdf you can open so you can print the steps out to make it easier to use the directions while using your computer.
If that doesn't work, then there might be a compatibility issue (?)

Let me know if that works. If not I'll be happy to go off-line and we can figure out what's going wrong.

I use fototime. After taking the photos and downloading to My Pictures, then it's a matter of naming them and saving to My Documents. Using the browser from fototime I upload from there. Clicking create a link generates the link in several formats. I use the one set for forums. I then copy the link, post my text on the forum, and the paste my link underneath. For multiple pictures, simply go back to fototime, create another link for the desired picture, copy, and then using the Milsurp edit button, paste the link immediately below the previous one. For speed, I open one window for Milsurps and another for fototime. I can then simply go back and forth without having to re-open either. hth.

I use photobucket, and find it very easy.

Like David, I copy or download to my pictures or my desktop.
I open photobucket and it prompts you with "Up load now". Then "Select photos and videos". Then it has a drop down for you to select from desktop, files, etc. You can do more then one photo at a time. You make and title your own albums. Click on any of those to down load into it. Or let it come up on your main page and then move it to where ever you want. They give you more then enough space to have hundreds of albums.
Then when you go to a photo is has four options. Email & IM, Direct link, HTML code, IMG code. I copy "IMG code" and paste it into the thread. You can check preview to see how it looks.

One think I don't like. If you move it from one album to another, it changes the address. This deletes it from any threads you have it posted on. Small thing to remember.

Sounds complicated, but after a few, it's as easy as installing a trigger spring.

Thanks, In the past and on other sites, I would open the picture on the hose site, hit Properties, copy the URL into the IMG brackets and it worked. I will try to figure out Harlan's post.

I could make it a link but by not trying. I tried to post the URL and the site turned it into a link.

Test(PictureTrail: Online Photo Sharing, Social Network, Image Hosting, Online Photo Albums) end test. This time the URL is inside ().
One thing I was not going to advanced. But I think I was doing everything right.

---------- Post added at 09:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:27 PM ----------

When I posted the site turned the URL into a link. I was hopping the Test( ) end test, would stop that from happening. So some one might be able to post the picture.

Notice the type 1 extractor. Note the long thin plunger and longer spring. Was this the first type? I put later parts on top for comparison.

You're right. It doesn't like that link, or web site.

Have you tried the second method where you just navigate to your photo and upload it directly?

How do I upload pictures to my posts for storage on milsurps.com?

Maybe I didn't make these guides well enough. When I made them I thought it would be easier to learn this way. I went through each step and made a screen print of it, then put each step in order so it was all visual and didn't need to use computer jargon.
(I covered in the guide how to open two browsers so it would be easy to jump back and forth)

I also took all the screen prints and put them in sequence to make the .pdf documents to they could be printed and kept beside the computer.

Have you tried photobucket? It's easy to use and seems to work with everything.

I'll also investigate the site you're using and see if I can get it to work from there. If not, I'll ask Doug to look at it. he's forgotten more about computers than I'll ever know.

    Jim,
The photos from photobucket should now stay in threads even when you move them or delete them. Doug (Badger) hired a guy who set things up where all the newly added photos from photobucket are saved on the milsurp.com server each night so the don't go away when people delete them from the host sites, as other forums do. It's always aggravating when you're reading older threads of interest on a site and the photos that illustrate something interesting are gone.

    Bubba,

It's how you get the URL that's messing you up.

After I opened your image using the link in your post, I right clicked on it and chose 'open Image' and it opened in a new page. Then I copied the URL that was in the browser window at the top of the page and just used the 'Insert image' button in the menu above the normal dialog box where we all write our posts and it worked fine.

I hope I helped more better
    ~ Harlan

PS - The URL I copied looked like this if it helps you find what you need using the photo above when you're on that site -

It's actually not very difficult and is well documented here ...

To learn more about about how to handle pics, please read this thread in the Q&A - Help Forums, which also appears as a "sticky" thread at the top of every forum on the site.

How do I upload pictures to my posts for storage on milsurps.com? (click here)

Some public hosting sites are awful in how they support giving out to the user web links, which they can use to post in threads on bulletin board sites like ours. As a registered member, you can use our own site here to store you pics in the Member's Photo Gallery (click here). Once you store you pics there, it's a simple matter of using the IMAGE code we give you to cut-n-paste those pics into your personal posts here.

If you still have problems, email them to me at badger@milsurps.com and I'll resize them for you, then post them in the appropriate thread you want under your name

    Regards,
    Doug
