A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... From memory, the 33 round boxes were used with special rounds. I can't find the box at the moment but I'm sure 33 rounds is the amount of ammo you get in a box of Drill Rounds or Armourers Inspection rounds. They are separated by cardboard partitions. Very possible these 'special' boxes were later used for standard ammunition simply to ensure the cartons weren't wasted.

Its not uncommon to reuse existing packaging, for example I was posed the question why a box was labelled and held only 8 rounds of 7.62x51 mm. I checked the dimensions of the box and then compared the size of a 5 round 7,62x51mm Horseshoe Mk. 1 Charger, then realised 8 loose rounds would fit in the same space a Horseshoe Charger would. Puzzle solved, reuse of an existing box.

Fergs... a few years ago a bunch of us were looking to organise a tour of Warren's shed but decided it would be too expensive to hire enough Sherpas to carry the provisions we'd need in case we got lost in there.

Here's a couple of crates/ boxes. There's the twenty rifle rack which holds SMLE's one way and L1A1's if you turn it upside down. Second pic is the HT chest inside the rack...I suppose the pic belongs in the accessories thread too...

OHHH!!!! I just love those cases for the Auzzie Pattern 18 scope....Any chance they show up as I could use three or four.....
Also need one of the locking levers for the rear mount should one ever fall off and be found on the floor with the sweepings :-)##
The auzzie arms chests were used in the 1950's by Churchill gun makers in the UKicon to ship sporterized Lee Enfields to Canadaicon for the surplus market. I unloaded hundreds of them piled with SMLE's and No.4's .....to turn back the clock when they were $9.95 but then you only made 85 cents and hour

I have a polystyrene box, but not one which details what suppose to be in it. Looks like only a 6 digit serial number for the rifle?

Straight pull Target Rifle. AD690029. The closest thing to an SLR we can own in shootable form nowdays

If I didn't have a wife/kids/business, I'd immigrate to NZicon in a heartbeat and give you some extra competition
