Unusual cartridge/axe carrier belt and suspenders

Can anyone identify this belt? The axe sheath is integral with the belt and the pouches appear to accept .30-30/.30 Remington size cartridges. They will not accept .303 in chargers or .30-06 in clips. Belt has no markings. It came with three other belts that seem to have Canadian heritage. I can't see the expense for fitting these out for the PCMR units that had the Wincheter/Marlin .30-30's in WWII. Comments appreciated. p.

I think the design on the snaps is unusual enough to make the ID. That is if someone has seen them on gear with a known provenance. I'm clueless...

Is there any reason to think it's no a one of? At the time when people had their uniforms taylor made why not their equipment belt too. Right thing for the job wot? Was it modified after the fact as surplus for a post war requirement?

Any maker marks on the underside or the reverse of the snaps....to give us a clue.....Belt is very British or Commonwealth looking though i must admit.

I would think that gear made to order would be more typical of the officer class. I cannot imagine an officer carrying a hatchet on their belt... ?

I wonder if the pouches are not cartridge pouches and meant for something else (?) With all the extra utility hooks and loops it looks like it may even not be military and possibly used for a specialized work or maybe a forestry ranger or something like that.

That's what I was eluding to with the second part. Post war surplus employment.
