This pin looked good with just bifocals and wasn't inclined to pierce primers. The macrophoto revealed a surprising degree of surface irregularity. Polishing it took all of two minutes.

thats about what mine looks like.new one should be here fri or sat.im haveing a gun smith put it in so probably next week sometime ill get it done then take the rifle back out and try it.thanks to all for the help

Not doubting your gunsmiths ability DPL, but there are 7 interrelated items that are associated with replacing the striker in your No4 rifle from what we call 'lift' 'overturn' protrusion etc etc. Can I suggest that you download a copy of an article published here a year or so ago that details all of these in relation to replacing the striker. Not that he could go horribly wrong but you might as well have it done correctly.

As I said, contrary to modern rifles and armourers 'skills', replacing a striker isn't just a case or unscrewing one and screwing in another. Or just send it to someone on the forum who specialises in these rifles. It'll probably be as cheap too

first many thanks to all that helped me.peter,brian at BDL and parashooter.and everyone else for ideas ect...i polished the pin with 2000 grit wet dry and used oil on the sandpaper.i took it out and 60 rounds later no puncture.i did get to speak with brian at bdl and he couldve easily told me to send it in but he also said just polish it and youll be good to go.there are not many people out there that are willing to help a fellow shooter and collector and ive learned there are still a few out there.thanks everyone.and thanks peter for the info on the pin not being just a easy change out.glad i didnt have to change it.ive got a pin from numrich hopefully its the right thread pitch and ill keep it for a spare.any one know if the numrich ones are a good fit?
