Thoughts on a marking disc.
Have a brass marking disc coming in soon...marked 11-17 then 9 MX. Am I correct in thinking this is maybe the 9th Middlesex Regiment? My research tells me that this unit was sent to Mesopotamia in November of 1917, so it kind of made sense to me. Of course, I could be 100% wrong, as I've been known to be from time to time.....

9 Mx. Would certainly be the abbreviation for 9th Battalion The Middlesex Regiment (DCO).
They were a Territorial Army Battalion Head-quartered at Willesden in what is now North West London. Sometime (between the wars IIRC), they were converted to Royal Artillery but kept their Middlesex Regt. title. Later the unit at Willesden became S Battery, 562 Parachute Light Battery Royal Horse Artillery (armed with 4.2 inch mortars) until disbanded in the 1960s.
