A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. The sellers item description says hes had it in his personal collection for over thirty years, I spy a pinoccio style nose on the horizon!!!. If you look at the sellers other items on the listing there is a lot of bren gun stuff so could the seller be a member of this forum?.
A sign of things to come methinks.

It's the same seller as that earlier tin which went for £350 and was 'outed' here. This is quite worrying as this is obvious lying - 'I've had this for 30 years etc' - in the past people have gone down the 'I don't know much about this subject' style of avoiding responsibility for knowingly selling reproductions as the genuine article.
It looks like the scope markings from the numrich-style repro scope have been covered over and some very poor engraving taking their place. AK&S seemingly being a favourite for fakers as it doesn't have the more difficult makers markings eg CT&S.
If as many of us as possiblye report these items to ebay they may be taken down (they're not really in a position to judge themselves) - so in ebay help enter 'report listings that offer counterfeit items or replicas' and report the item number,

Have sent email, and reported the item, considering you can get the full set up for around 800 pounds from Franceicon, making a living is one thing, ripping people off is another.

So is this seller a member of this forum? IF so what is going to be done?
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

For the benefit of those of us not expert in such things, can the main 'problems' be stated that make it a 'fake'? Is it just the wrong adjustment drums for that model?

I think I'll stick to collecting SMLEs, as the No.4T and its accessories is a complete minefield for the novice!

That it's a fake is very clear - laying it out exactly isn't a good idea as it helps the fakers! Although that doesn't help those trying to avoid being taken for a ride. Close reading of old threads on no32s, 4ts etc here will give all the info needed.

Fair comment! I'm unlikely to buy a No.4T, but if I ever did, I think I'd take a long a panel of experts to view it with me, before parting with my cash!
