    Star gauge number on barrel?

I am looking at a sporterized Springfield online with numbers near the muzzle partially obscured by a Dahl ramp site. The marking starts C106, can anyone shed some light? Thanks

C106 would be a steel lot code found on Rock Island barrels.

I have the heat lot C106 on a Rock Island barrel dated 5-18. I head that these barrels were used in rebuilds

The star gauge record number is normally on the top of the barrel between the rear sight sleeve and rear band on a 1903 Rifle.
