    British helmet questions

New to me, and I dont know squat about Britishicon helmets. I'm guessing it's British. What kind of rivit or dome screw was used originally, so that I can replace this ugly one in it. Thanks for any info.

The screw is definitley added as you think. It used a long male snap like the lift the dot snaps US gear has. I can't imagine where you'll find that though...

Well, it won't be right but it's better than a plated stove bolt. If you ask around here for a bit, I'll bet someone will have a better alternative.

I agree about trying Prairie Leather Flower as they may have what you need. I bought a replacement bolt for my Britishicon WWII helmet.

The bolt is called a Simmonds nut or fastener by the way.

I've just had a look at a Britishicon one and it's a large, round headed shallow domed brass bolt that goes through the helmet with a brass nut on the inner side. The diameter is pretty much as shown by the outline in the second picture above. The brass has been left to discolour/age of course.

The second one has a 'lift the dot' type rivet rivetted in place so that the liner crown will have a lift the dot fastened inside.
