One nice churchill enfield

don't see these very often and this one is extra nice, the price too, lol. amost odd rear sight what I can see of it, and also the flash hider/muzzle brake, etc, and , is that a 1942 receiver with a jungle carbine barrel?

Not being that interested in sporting rifles, what is a "Churchill Enfield 303 british: Mk5" when its at home?
I know what it looks like, even though quite posh. Can someone enlighten me please?

A Churchill Mk5 is what one gets when one butchers a good old trusty No5 rifle into something out of this world. By out of this world, think '..........what the xxxx do you call that monstrosity'. A good example of the old saying 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
That's just my take on it. That been said, it'll be interesting to see what it fetches at auction. Keep us informed RJ

So are we all agreed that, in this case, Churchill is merely Bubba's posher brother?
It's not just the muzzle brake that offends me, it's that dreadful rear sight. Even if one wanted to replace the (decidedly better) leaf sight that it started with, why put the replacement there?

I was thinking that too Beery............. If it's a larger aperture they wanted, then just drill the bloody hole bigger! Or just look through the opening ABOVE the backsight slide - shotgun fashion. That's what they were taught to do at opportune or fleeting targets in the jungle. It takes all sorts I suppose
