Barrel for a 1903 springfield made in 1929

Rifle is beautiful, but barrel is shot out. Can the 1903a3 and a4 barrel be modified to fit? How about a creiger barrel? Out side of the barrel I want it to stay STOCK, sights and all.Can it be done.If so who in Colorado can do this?

The A3 and A4 are the same type barrels. You can have an A3 barrel machined down to place the rear sight base on. An expensive operation. You will need to find someone who has done this before.
I would look for a 1903 barrel. It may take a while but you would be better off.

    I sent you a PM

Chuckindenver has a very few correct '03 barrels. I would find the correct barrel and have Chuck mount it. The '03-A3 barrel will hurt any collector value.

    Scrub...
Dang... I almost bought YOUR barrel about 2 months ago. I actually saw one at a Gunshow for about $175.00, it was the exact year that you would need.

I am also looking for a "correct" barrel for my 1903 (1920 date). I figure that you either get the replacement... but do it right... or wait until you find the correct one. As mentioned, putting on a 1903A3 will take down the value.
    Good luck with your decision!!

    See GunBroker.com

You do see them on GunBroker.com from time to time, I have picked up 5 new 1903 barrels from GB over the last couple of years. But most barrels on GB are 1903A3 barrels.

There is only one 1903 on GB right now that comes close to your requirements, and its about $300.00 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=255439797
