So is there any particular reason you would recommend this method over Bix Stripper? I have Romy G vertical forward grip that I need to strip down to bare wood as well.
Its very fast,easy, & thourough. Citristrip is good also but you may have to do it more than once.

I've been wandering around the house looking for my can of citristrip with no luck finding it. Just got one of the British WWII entrenching tools this afternoon and I want to spray the handle with it to clean up some grease stains in it. It is good stuff. It has a pleasant smell unlike most of these strippers.

Yep! I just used it this week to remove some old lacquer on a rosewood knob and tote on an old woodworking plane I bought. Took about 5 minutes, with about 5 minutes scrubbing with 4-ought steel wool. They look really nice.
