    Refurbing WWII Helmets

Here's a link I got from another site that'll probably make any unit-marked M1icon helmet collector cry.
(Many original WWII unit marked helmets are worth well into the four figures today)

A man cleaning and repainting helmets of US soldiers piled up on the ground in the European Theater.

On the up side, occasionally people find these repainted helmets for cheap and have carefully removed the re-paint to uncover a treasure beneath.

I'm crying thinking about those that wore them and then no longer had a need for them.
Happy V-day to those who served.....and thanks.
