A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Here's a pic of a kit from a tube, dated 1960. Also, a pic of a one piece unmarked case, from a pack of 10, dated 4-53. Also, a fake, numbered case next to good one(I hope). You can see the difference in the tabs. BTW, I noticed all my unopened cleaning kits are dated 1957-1961. Can anyone post a pic of new style kit, with the wide tip on the M-10? BTW, just about everyone who I showed the cloth cases, claimed they were fake-until I showed them the package. Thanks,

    Charlie

I remember your posting of the package. I knew is was legit as the Garand Rod Case exists in three different markings (the early one has none). I just was not aware it was as early as 1953. I always thought it was 1955 or 56, when the cases first appeared in the published SNL.

Your request for a late kit with the late handle probably will not show up because I think the thousands in the CMPicon were all early versions. BTW as time went on the M14icon oiler replaced the long WWII oiler in the kits.

As far as your "fake case", it does not appear to be fake. If you post a picture of the entire case I may be able to tell. The B098 legit exists in two different fabrics.
