    Question Deactivated Mk1 BREN - Incorrect Assembly Issue! Help!

    Hi, i have a MK 1 Lithgowicon BREN Gun that i purchased many years ago as a teenage cadet. Over the years my priorities have changed but the BREN has remained around.

    However, i used to donate it to the open days for my local cadet force, who put it on display. Unfortunately, an over zealous senior cadet took it upon themselves to attempt to strip and re-assemble it. I think somehow they have managed to insert the breech incorrectly/upside down resulting in the cocking action becoming stuck after a few mm.

    Ever since it has been sitting in my loft but due to the times i am considering selling it.

    So, has anyone come across this mistake before and anyone know if it can be fixed? There seems no way of manually removing the interior components!

    Sorry, i am not an expert of any kind but will provide as much info as ai can!

    Just remove the butt slide and using a brass drift, just use a bit of brute force and drift the piston extension out towards the rear. It'll soon be followed by the breech block

    Or better still, don't hammer it apart but just sell it to me cheap so I can convert it into an L54 DP variant (for got to add when I was writing......) I'll do the conversion and write it up for the benefit of those forumers who might want to convert a bog standard Bren to a more valuable L54 DP variant

    As Peter has said, nothing wrong in the photos, just needs drifitng out and then cleaning and oiling. Where in the UKicon are you? It looks like a early Lithgowicon FTR'd in the 50s and fitted with a Inglis Mk1 barrel.

    Did you ever solve the problem of the stuck breech block Jungly? Did a bit of brute force solve the problem?

    I'm glad you noticed that too BAR......... You see the same 'been here 20 minutes' types asking Q's that you'd find an answer to in the SAIS books for a few $$'s. Oh well, it takes all sorts.........
