Pretty good gun and knive show in Hampton, VA, this weekend

I visited the Hampton, VA, gun show yesterday. This is probably the biggest show I've ever seen, and I've been to quite a few. Some random thoughts:

    1. Lots of selection of everything from milsurps to locally hand-built flintlocks to modern arms, and everything in between.
    2. Garands were amazingly reasonable in price. What looked like 7.4 mil Service Grade Specials with very nice metal and wood were about $750. There were lots of milsurp Garandicon web slings offered from $10 (nylon) to $14 (nice thick cotten).
    3. There was lots of militaria and vintage military gear. I picked up a pair of spare eye guard rings with the metal mounting rims for $5 each for the 1943 Mk17 Milsurp Binoculars my father gave me recently.
    4. There was lots of piggyback trade at the show, some of it, such as women's wear, was totally unrelated to the main topic at hand. I took that to mean that these unrelated dealers expected a strong turnout of people with lots of disposable income in their hands for impulse purchases.
    5. State background checks appeared to be going quickly and smoothly. That has been a problem before.

The show looked incredibly prosperous and happy to me. The signs, license plates, and stickers offered were hilarious, very political, but, by and large, upbeat.
