Picked up some books while I was away

Went to Prince George on the weekend for the granddaughters birthday. Picked up some books while I was there!
The first is a large table book called "The Historical Atlas of World War II"

    ISBN-10: 0 7858 2200 3
    ISBN-13: 978 0 7858 2200 4

This book has maps, diagrams, and supporting text along with some photos! I am still working through the book which I picked up for just $17.00 at Costco!! While not an 'in depth' study, it is well worth the money!

The second book is about one of the most famous group of soldiers in the Britishicon Army "The Gurkhas"
    ISBN: 0 7472 6243 8

I have not yet started to read the book but it is a book that i am sure to savor this summer! The subtitle is "Better to die then to be a Coward."

The rear cover reads "Their ferocity is as legendary as their loyalty to the British Monarch and their regimental histories are crammed with acts of incredible bravery and sacrifice. The Gurkhas particular reputation as fearsome fighting men remains undisputed and the mere threat of their kukri knives has put fear into the hearts of opposing forces throughout the world."

I could not have said it better myself.

My brother who served in the NZicon Army and in Vietnam, had a termendious respect for the Gurkha.

The third book is, something quite different. It is "The Federalist Papers"

    ISBN None on this edition!

These are a series of papers written by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay. They were written toi defend the Constitution of the United Statesicon, which was, in its day, a revolutionary charter. This book also has an appendix with the Constitution and it's amendments.

I am sure it will be an interesting, although slow, read!

My Dad was RCAF stationed in Burma for most of the War. He had a great respect and admiration for Gurkha forces. They could get by on next to nothing for rations and still be in top form.
Federalist Papers should be a good read after last wks Supreme Court ruling.
