If I'd known that I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself.

That was nice to hear for me too, Dave. My dad also used that expression. He would also joke and say he was going to start a new healthier lifestyle and switch over to filtered cigarettes and start mixing some water with his scotch. He died when he was only six years older than I am now.

That's fantastic, Frank! Before I got sick four or five years ago I rode 10-20 miles on my mountain bike almost everyday on a track that went through some dark woods and relished it when I'd pass young people. Riding the mountain bike was one of the signs that something was going wrong with my body - I had ridden for many years then all of a sudden my hands started going so numb I couldn't feel them. I thought it was the grips and tried several different types. A little later my hands and arms started going completely numb when I was sleeping. Took my doctor months to find my spine was causing the problems - he took an x-ray and it clearly showed my vertebra didn't have the cushion between them anymore.

Thanks Harlen, I'm 62 and planning on running as long I can. I do three per week, Mon. Wed. Fri. Winter four miles, summer five. I do 3 or 4 5K's per year and still compete in sparring at karate tournaments, (over 50 black belt light weight division). I'm planning on doing that as long as I can also. Love it when I beat the young guys!
I bet you miss the mountain bike. Have you tried a stationary bike? Just wondering.

I was a passenger in a auto accident in the UP of Mighigan, Nov of 1985. On our way home from a deer hunting trip in blizzard conditions. Head on collision left me with a broken left collar bone, sternum, dis-located lft shoulder, 2 broken wrists, 8 ribs and 3 broken vertabre, 2 blown disc, broken lft hip and best they could count 19 fragmented pieces to my left leg along with both heals fractured. I've had 13 orthopedic surgeries over the years. Spent just over 2 yrs in a wheel chair. Originally had 7-7" plates, 42 screws and 23 pins in the lower left leg and ankle. After removal the leg crumbled after the first week of being full weight bearing. Later ( A new Orthopedic) went in and re-broke the rest and ran the rods inside the bone, from my hip joint to upper knee, then from lower knee into the ankle. Bone grafting and bone fusions. Back to work on it in less than 3 months. Still can't dance.... But never could. Will never forget one of the nurses early on telling me... "No one likes a whiner" It was a tough time as my wife and I were expecting our first child, my son Eric. At the time of the accident she was 7 months along.

P.S. speaking of getting older........ Yesterday Dec 12 was my Birthday. Ended up being a good one since the wife reminded me I was turning 52, when I thought I was turning 54.
I share the same birth date Dec 12 as Winston Churchill !!! UUUUMMMM and uuuuhhhhhh Rock Hudson

I'm 60, and my wife I I love to ride our bikes. We were doing a couple hundred miles a month until I had a stroke in August. I have almost completely re-habed, but still not doing anything close to what i did before.
