    Military Peep for Krag?

I have (and SO proud of it) an excellent 1898 with no Bubba work at all. Orig cleaning stuff, bayonet, cartridge belt...the works.
Problem is, I love to reload and shoot her and my eyes have problems with the rear sight.
Does anyone out there know if the military made a Peep sight for them? I have read of aftermarket stuff which I can use without d/t....Would like to stay in military configuration if at all possible.
Hope the attachments come through....she's a good one.
    thanks, and Merry Christmas

I "borrowed" this text from Chuck, but it might be the solution to your problems. You can find them on EBAY, but you might have to enlarge the hole in the fold-up peep.............."It sounds like you have the 1902 Kragicon sight with "Sgt. Peep" (an incorrect nickname for the peep sight). I prefer this sight because it is rugged, holds its settings, and is nicely adjustable for windage. You also have the option of 'fine sighting' with the peep. The 1892, 1896, and 1901 Krag sights use "ladders". The 1901 adjusts for windage by allowing the base to swing. If you go to the KCA main page and 'click' on photos, you can see pictures of these sights and their various handguards. Chuck"

    former,

I usd to have a 95/96 Carbine with a bunch if "updates" including the 1901 sight. It had a little piece of stel betwen the legs of the lader, with a hole drilled in it. Peep! I used it a lot testing handloads for acCuracy. tHE 1901 sight is very common.

my current Kragicon has a Pacific receiver sight. It has a thumbscrew that draws down into the threaded hole in the receiver that's left AFTER you remove the magazine cutout. It takes a standaRD RECEIVER SIGHT APERATURE. I like the Pacific a little better because it gives you a longer sighting radius and you can use it hunting, just take out the aperature.

I think I've got 2 of those Pacific peeps coming in an assorted sight lot I got the other day. I'll know more when I get them in next week. I think I have one of each version, the early and the late. K1 or K2, not sure yet.

Wow, been awhile since I signed in last, it's come a long ways from when it first started!

Yep got them, a smaller one without the marks and a larger one with them, both Pacific, not sure what they go for, shoot me a p.m. and we can work something out. These are the ones that are "no drill", you simply take out the magazine cut off and replace it with this sight.

    former173rd, you have a model 1896 rifle. Sorry, I'm nit-picking, it's a nice one.
