    French MAS36 loads

Looking for some help in coming up with some load data, I am told that a 308 bullet will work with my 7.4x54 brass.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Simple solution: use .308 Win./7.62 NATO data. Larger MAS case yields lower pressure and velocity with same bullet and powder charge. A .308" bullet is appropriate. Normal load development cautions apply.

The only specific loads I could find for the MAS 36 were published by the Germanicon magazine "Visier".

I quote, with no responsibility whatsoever:
The 3 most accurate loads, tested at 100 meters with 5-shot groups, all used a 143 gn PM FMJ bullet and WLR primers, with OAL 74.0mm.
    41.0gn N140, Lapua case, 50 mm group
    42.0gn H4895, Lapua case, 55 mm
    39.0gn N140, Norma case reformed from 6.5x55, 56 mm

These three examples, combined with the tip from Parashooter, should enable you to make a very plausible and safe "first approximation".

    Patrick

P.S: Parashooter, what software are you using to generate those curves?
