Here's another weird uknown?

What on earth is this? It has a tip up un-rifled barrel. A grip safety like a 1911. no numbers or marks but you can make out WEINTE xx (looks like a partial name) in the area that looks rubbed out? I don't know if this is Milsurp or not but if any one would know it would be someone on Milsurps.I thought flair pistol though it's small and about .30 to maybe 380 cal. Small shot Gun? story was brought back from Vietnam?

I love the P-1 you got. I have one of them and they're great guns. I also have a matching P-38 but have never fired it. No reason to when the P-1 is exactly like it and price is so small. I think the DA-SA design is very cool. I have a couple of modern Walthers and they still have the same design. If it fails to fire in the semi auto mode, you just pull the trigger ang and it strikes the bullet again. I had a misfire once at the range and the second strike fired ust fine. Good back-up design for a firefight.

Looks like the barrel tips up for loading single shot. While the grips look jungle made, looks like too much machining to be Vietnamese. Looks European.

The cogs are turning, and I have the best detectives on the case. I too thought it might be a proto type and it does look old and European.

Have you taken your new P-1 out and shot it yet? The action seemed a little strange to me at first after shooting my 1911A1 but I got used to it. You pull the slide to load the chamber and cock the hammer, and shoot it with a light pull on the trigger. You can empty the mag semi auto. You can pull the slide cocking the trigger and then put the hammer back down - and then you can pull the trigger through a long harder pull cocking and releasing the hammer like you would a revolver - every round after that is semi auto. The modern Walthers work the same way, but they don't have a safety. They're meant to be carried with one in the chamber and the hammer down so you have to have a harder deliberate pull for the first round like you would with a revolver and then it's a semi auto. They call it 'Anti-Stress' and it's supposed to make it be a more deliberate pull before you decide to shoot.

Just in case anyone is wondering what Harlan is referring to,this is the Manurhin P1 i picked up around Christmas. Along with this Berretta 96G Ceturion police gun that I added the wood grips to.

I would have posted a thread but I knew these were ex-police guns and though they are cool they aren't Milsurp examples.
