    M1917 Winchester Sporter Extractor Help

Hello everyone, here I am again with my sporter M1917. Got it mabye 1 week ago and found out it has No Ejector. Does not kick out the shells and pulling them by hand after being fired isnt what I look forward to. I have found a website that sells the parts and seems legit: Numrich Gun Parts Corp. - The World's Largest Supplier of Firearms Parts and Accessories
Out of that parts list, Can you please tell me which ones i will need for this rifle to kick the shells out properly? I will post some photos of the rifle as it is right now but PLEASE ASK me to post any more photos you may need to see in order to help me fix this! Thanks!

PS~~ PLEASE don't ask/give me too much **** about the epoxy mess on top of the reciever. it was there before i got it for the scope mount and im getting it removed asap! Im Hungry.Attachment 29741Attachment 29742Attachment 29743Attachment 29744

The only reason I ask for help on this topic is because On the website I listed, There are 3 different Ejector parts that look the same or as if they do the same thing. I re read my post and sounded like i was lazy and just being helpless.

From your photo of the bolt face and receiver wall it appears that the ejector is indeed missing. This is a piece of flat steel with a thin leaf spring formed on one side, and they are prone to breakage. It is fitted into the bolt-stop assembly and projects out of the slot you can see to the right of the bolt face in your photo.

Any one of the three options shown in your Numrich link will function. Buying an original military spare is a waste of money for a heavily sporterized M1917. I would get the coil spring replacement - it is cheapest and should last better.

If you remove the bolt stop you may find that the leaf is still in place, but pushed right back into the bolt stop housing, because the spring has broken off. In this case, if you are feeling in a DIY-mood, then you can even make the coil spring repair yourself.

If the spring is broken but the ejector is Ok you could make the coil spring version with a dremel tool.

I wish it was that easy! The rifle came from my great grandfather without it unfortunately. Thanks for the advice though

if you search the Gunsmith area of these forums, i show a how to, on the 17 ejector, shows how to convert them to a coil spring ..
youll have a hard time finding one that still has the flat spring. the ones that gunparts sells are junk.

Chuck, sorry for my confusion, so are you saying i should, or should not go with this item : Ejector, Coil Spring, Replacement
? And thanks for the info Vintage, i found it for sale! But if what Patrick said about them was true, them being "Prone to Breakage" Then with my better judgement ill buy the spring one.
