    My 1942 Springfield Garand

    Just wanted to share. Here are the SN# dates. Receiver 436XXX = Jan 1942 Barrel marked 4-42. Bolt D28287-2SA = Early 1942 Trigger Housing D28290-12-SA = Nov 1942 through Sept 1944. Bolt D28287-2SA = Early 1942 Op Rod D35382 3 SA = Early 1942

That's what I know as of now. I found the rifle on the used gun rack at a local dealer. He had a TE gauge and it measured less than 2. The stock is new not original, I assume it's a Boyd's? but don't know. The rifle came with a CMPicon certificate. Now the wood crate originally housed a Springfield INC D-Day commemorative Garandicon that I eventually sold, but kept the crate for my 1942 Garand. I know people trash the new springfields, but Mine was a great shooter.

You have a very nice looking M1icon. The crate is a wonderful touch. Thank you for sharing.

That's a great looking rifle with all of those 1942 parts. All you need is to add a locking bar rear sight.

I believe the flush nut would be the one for that early serial number range. At least the lock bar would look more period correct if that is what Jay is after. I think it's a great looking rifle as it sits.
