WW1 Gewehr 98 DWM BERLIN 1915
Have just got hold of a GEW98, normally I'm Enfields.......
It has the 'S' barrel mark, So I presume its 8mmx57mm chambered.
Have worked out some of the markings and will post quality pictures in next few days.
It has a Regtimental Butt Disc (stock tag) showing R.R.91.2 (non italics 'R')
It is all matching parts with a receiver serial of 9431, the bolt is 9138,stock 3209 (inside)
with a broken off bolt safety lever,
Can the forum please confirm if this means the 'Recruiting Depot of Regular Infantry Regtiment. Regt No 91 and Rifle No 2 in the inventory?
On reaserching the 91 appears to be "Oldenburgisches Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 91" a Regular unit from the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg, Lower Saxony Germany.
Am I on the right track????
Cheers !

Stamping
I believe the RR stamping means Reserve Infantry Regiment. Look at this site:
