The wait begins!

I have wanted one of these since I first read about them last summer. A local FFL has put together a group buy direct from the factory. NOW the wait begins, we have been told 90-120 days. When it gets here I will update with a review report. Some of the things I have heard so far have been promising. Has anyone already picked up one of these, if so what do you think?

I just hope it's built better and longer lasting than those Iver Johnsons me and my friends wore plum out years ago. They didn't last long at all, then they gave serious FTF problems, ( failure to feed, and half the time failure to fire). They just really had some cheap internal springs. The rifle it'self was really well built and rugged, but just left to much room for improvement internally.
I hope your interesting rifle turns out just fine, and gives us all something to cheer about. We need a good carbine rifle in 22 cal thats built to last. So let us know how it turns out.

Looked at one at Cabelas last month when they were on sale. Although they look the part,too much plastic for my taste.Then again,I'm in the 50+ crowd!

good luck on this , hoping its a nice one for you , i did not know of these so i did a cosmetic make-over of a ruger 10/22 carbine , looks OK and feels fine , but not as authentic as this one appears to be - do let us know how it works out for you

Range Report . . . ALL SMILES!


First hundred rounds through each gun. Fifty rounds with each of the four magazines. Only four “failure to feed” problems, the second or third round on each magazine failed to feed the first time the magazine was used.


The temperature was in the low 40’s with no wind, high humidity but no rain. Target distance was 25 yards. For reference I used my Ruger 10/22, ammo was a new bulk box of “Winchester M-22”. Since my Ruger is well seasoned with the M-22 ammo I decided to do a quick season/sighting in of each gun using the silhouette targets first.


I started with the M1 carbine, using 6o-clock hold, rear sight set about the middle and elevation at 1 (group A). I increased elevation to 2.5 (group B). Further increase elevation to 3 (group C). STUPID ME! put 3 full turns of right windage (group D). Went back 4 turns of left (group E). Finally 1 more turn of left (group F).


Next the M1A1 carbine, using 6o-clock hold, rear sight set about the middle with elevation set at 3 (group A). SMART ME! added 3 full turns “LEFT” windage (group B). Added 1 more turn left, and started holding “center POA” vise “6o-clock” hold (group C). Decreased elevation to 2.5 (group D). Elevation set at 2 (group E). Final elevation at 1 (group F).

Range Report (cont). . . ALL SMILES!

After shooting my Ruger 10/22 at random clay target bits to warm it up (~40 rounds), I shot 10 rounds at the center target of the 2 sample targets. This was just to use as a reference as what the ammo was doing. I then shot 1 10 round magazine at each of the 4 remaining targets in the following order; Top-Left, Top-Right, Bottom-Left, Bottom-Right.
The M1 target, using 6o-clock POA hold. After shooting the Top-Left group I added 1 more turn of left windage to the sight before continuing.


On the M1A1 targets I remembered to use center POA hold, BUT forgot to reset elevation to 3. Therefore the shot group above the Bottom-Left target was my first group aiming at center of Top-Left. The group IN the Top-Left target was my second group aimed at center POA with the elevation set at 3. Then groups were shot at Top-Right, then Bottom Right.


In conclusion I believe these are going to be SO MUCH FUN. I would recommend them to anyone. They do feel like my original GI carbines, and I believe they WILL improve my marksmanship, by providing a cheaper means of practice. I will add more and answer questions as I can, Thanks for reading.

That's all. I loaded all 4 mags, and the 2nd or 3rd round on each one failed to feed ONLY the first time it was used. NO failures after that with any of them.

Latest range report 12/25/12:
After 10 rounds of warm up with “CCI Green Tag PRECISION”, 1070FPS, 40 grain LRN, shot the following targets. These are printouts of the “Apple Seed” Red Coats targets, only I was shooting at 50yards vise 25m. The last pic is of my target shot with my USGI IBM (AO) M1carbine (10 rounds).
